More and more people are interested in a mindfulness coach and wonder what exactly they can expect from it. First, let’s take a closer look at the meaning of Mindfulness.
WHAT IS MINDFULNESS?
A word that connects to everything we do. Whether it is eating, sleeping or going to the toilet. Mindfulness is nothing more than being present with attention, in the present moment. Every second of the day. Experiencing what is going on, being aware of every experience, feeling it, living it through. We are too busy from our intellect with everything that is going on in our lives and less and less from our heart.

We are too busy from our intellect with everything that is going on in our lives and less and less from our heart. It seems as if we no longer want to feel what is happening in our lives every second. Blockages, stress, being rushed, no longer having time for someone else. All sorts of excuses we think of to avoid real contact with ourselves. Because we focus too much outwards, we forget our feeling to let all our experiences come up from the heart more. Going back to our true nature that can only be found when we go within. Within ourselves. Connecting with our inner world. And from there experience all our experiences. That is in short what Mindfulness is.
WHAT DOES A MINDFULNESS COACH DO?
A mindfulness coach and trainer offers his / her clients all kinds of exercises. During the exercises, the clients learn to focus on the thoughts and feelings in their head, without reacting acutely. It is a method that makes people more aware of everything that goes on in their heads and around them, but also ensures that they are not too guided by all these thoughts and feelings. Mindfulness training is a form of attention training that focuses on the here and now, and shows things as they really are. A mindfulness trainer helps his clients not to be overwhelmed by the things they encounter every day. Positive results of mindfulness are: learning to deal with stressful events, being able to concentrate better, suffering less from insomnia, anxiety and depression, and achieving peace and stability.

ORIGIN OF MINDFULNESS TRAINING
The Mindfulness training is initially set up as an experiment in 1979 by Jon Kabat-Zinn, who was working as a microbiologist at the University Hospital in Massachusetts.
The results of his MBSR “Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction” program were surprising. It did not only reduce the physical symptoms of his patients, but they also felt higher in spirit.
Because Mindfulness can help you get rid of very specific complaints. Symptoms such as stress, loss or grief, burnouts or other stress-related symptoms. But also physical pain or unclear symptoms, of which the doctor cannot help you with can be made visible when starting with Mindfulness.
Even without direct cause or complaints Mindfulness can do a lot for you. You learn how to recognize your own prejudices and how to avoid them, your mind will open up for the rest of the world and you can be so much more with everything that comes on your way.
In The Netherlands, the Radboud University Medical Center of Mindfulness, is doing much scientific research on a permanent base. Some of their key findings on the effects of mindfulness meditation or mindfulness training are:
-There is a decrease in physical and psychological symptoms
-There is a positive change in lifestyle
-Clients are more able to relax
